A personal flashbacks on making Floowers

For a long time we’ve wanted to share with you at least a little bit about our experience in making Floowers. We asked each other what was significant for us during our first year.

Converting a maker's project into product is hard.

I found out that converting a maker’s project into something I wouldn’t be ashamed to ask money for is extremely hard. And Floower is quite a complex product. I am very detail-oriented and need to have everything perfect. So I spent endless nights for half a year perfecting the product, developing the manufacturing process, and writing code and software to deliver something meaningful for reasonable money. The current price will never cover all the research and development costs. Still, I am doing it for fun and to develop myself. I’m proud that we’re building an incredible community with you so that the Floower is spreading around the world.

I can't even count all the failures I made.

It’s been quite a journey. I can’t even count all the failures I made along the way, but still, the positives outweigh the negatives by far! Creating a brand, designing packaging, learning a lot of stuff about Google Analytics, Facebook and Instagram advertising, all various WordPress plugins. Every Monday evening, quickly putting children to bed so we can have an online meeting. There we discuss updates, think about improvements and spend at least a bit of time together while being locked down during a pandemic. It’s a year to remember, and I’m really grateful for it. It wouldn’t be possible without you.

I didn't hesitate. I am a passionate woodworker.

When Jiri reached to me a year ago asking to help him build the everblooming flower, I didn’t hesitate. I am a passionate woodworker, and I love all kinds of manual work. Learning soldering and electronics basics was hard for me at first. My workbench is lined up with failed flowers. But after countless iterations and tiny changes to every bit of it, I feel confident we make a fantastic hand-made product many of you appreciate. I won’t ever let a gigantic factory assembling Floower for us, and it will always be hand-made. Only that way can I keep on adding different custom details to deliver a unique experience.

If you’re curious to learn a bit more you can check the About us page. We have also Our story page where we summarize the most important milestones on our journey.

We thank you for all your support. We’re happy to see every picture of your Floower you share on social media. And most importantly, we’re thrilled you love Floower.
